That sounds like simple bad wiring Craig ... some wires have broken contact, either actually breaking or more likely a dirty and corroded connector block....this causes the brake wiring system to draw its current from the indicator system which in turn lights the indicators. Either the earth side or more likely the live side
Try cleaning and inspecting all of the main connectors and the earth straps found dotted about the bike...one or more of them are not connected or possibly broken within the loom....finding those is involved doing continuity tests on each wire with a meter.

INTERESTED????!! If so read on. Step 1, remove the seat, Step 2, reach under the rear r/h/s fairing and find the flasher relay (should be the rear most one) or (turn indicators on and listen for God Da*n awful noise that'll be the one). Step 3, disconnect the connection block and find the Green and Yellow cable (upper left when looking at back of connector) Step 4, Two choices here you can (A_snip the cable and tape both ends) or (push small screwdriver into open end of connector and and release the spring clip for the terminal then remove it from the connector and tape the end my personal preference this one). Step 5, Re-Connect the connector (now less Green/Yellow wire) to the flasher relay. Step 6, Re-fit seat and ""VOILA"" FAULT CURED!!! Now test indicators and brakes and you will find they all work as they should!! Don't ask me what the Green/Yellow cable was for but it does not affect any other part of the bikes functions. Hope this is helpful to either yourself or someone else. |

N.B. If you pull the connectors from the plug, as I did, excellent connection point for the Alarm Flashers to fit. |
